Project Overview

In my role as a UX/UI designer for the SMART tag Driver App, I focused on creating a user experience that would streamline school bus operations. Working closely with developers, we built a proprietary application specifically for Samsung tablets, aimed at assisting bus drivers in managing student boarding and navigation. This project involved extensive research and design, ensuring the app was both intuitive and efficient for drivers, ultimately improving the daily management of school transportation.

Problem

In the initial phase of the SMART tag Driver App project, my focus was on identifying the specific challenges faced by school bus drivers. Through direct engagement with drivers and observational studies, I gathered insights into their daily routines and pain points. This research was crucial in understanding how technology could be utilized to improve their work experience. It highlighted the need for an app that not only simplified student management and navigation but was also user-friendly for drivers who may not be tech-savvy. These findings laid the foundation for the app's design and functionality.

Design & Development

During the design phase of the SMART tag Driver App, my primary role was to translate our research insights into a tangible, user-friendly interface. I meticulously crafted the UX/UI design, focusing on creating a layout that was intuitive and accessible for bus drivers. Collaborating closely with the development team, I provided detailed layout files and design assets to ensure the final app reflected the envisioned user experience. This partnership was key in ensuring a seamless integration of design and functionality, resulting in an app that was both aesthetically pleasing and highly practical for daily operations.

Outcomes & Impact

Reflection & Learnings
